Hi I just started playing guitar last week, so bare with me. I want to play Hand Down by Dashboard Confessional. I have the intro down, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to play the Bridge. I'm not sure how to hold all of the strings down at once. The 44644 part is really throwing me off, I dont have that many fingers.
Eb|--4--|--5--|--0--|
Bb|--4--|--5--|--0--|
Gb|--6--|--6--|--1--|
Db|--6--|--7--|--2--|
Ab|--4--|--7--|--2--|
Eb|--4--|--5--|--0--|

So any sugggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Depress all the strings at the 4th fret with the index finger. Hit the 6s with the ring and pinky.

Guitar: 1) Behringer Stratocaster; Webstrings Memphis Electric Xlight strings; Dunlop Picks

2) Ibanez TCY-10 Talman Series; Elixir Light strings.

When you see something like that in tab it is a 'sign' that you are going to be doing a barre chord. Most likely it means use your index finger to hold down a whole set of strings and then use your other fingers to hold the other notes.

Good luck.

bar chords are a tuff start if you have only been playing for a week. At least they are easier to play up the neck. Wait til you try the F chord or the Bb chord near the nut. You can always sub simple chords for the bar chords but, it won't quite sound the same. Looks like a Dbsus,A,E to me. You can play all those in the first 3 frets or just play enough strings to get the feel of the chords. No rule says you have to play every string in a bar chord. Hope that helps.
