Traditional Blues Riff

I just know the basic strumming for the riff, but i saw someone play it one time with very interesting strumming so i was wondering if people knew variations of the riff that they would like to share

the first part alternates between open on E with second fret on A and open on E with fourth fret on E. then it goes between open on A with second fret on D and open on A with fourth fret on D. It goes back to the first part, then for the next part is goes back and fourth between second on A with fourth on D and second on A with sixth on D. then at the end it keeps E open and plays 2, 4, 5, 4, 2, 4, 2 on A. If thats confusing then i botched it, its a basic riff and the mp3 should be much much much clearer

That is called a blues shuffle Ax. There are countless variations. You play the root of the chord on the bass or lower string at the same time as you play a 5 interval then you go up to the 6 interval and back down or you keep going and add a b7 before going back down. You can also replace the last notes of the pattern with a muted strum before starting the pattern again. You can break up the pattern like SRV playing The House Is Rockin. It is endless.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
