Which guitar is best for me?

Hey...I'm trying to start playing but have NO idea where to start! I think the first thing I need is a decent guitar, any suggestions? I have shorter fingers..I'm not sure if that matters in buying a guitar or not...as you can tell I REALLY need some help. I appreciate anyone who volunteers any information.

Well... what type of music do you want to play?

Also, what is your price range?

Guitar: 1) Behringer Stratocaster; Webstrings Memphis Electric Xlight strings; Dunlop Picks

2) Ibanez TCY-10 Talman Series; Elixir Light strings.

  My style

I would prefer to play modern stuff (ie Eagles era-anything current). My price range is around $200-$300 give or take.

So Rock music I'm guessing?

Then you'll want an electric guitar. Acoustic does work for rock, but it's not as often used.

I myself reccommend guitar packs for starters.

Theres the Behringer V-Tone package, which is the one I'm using, It actually does sound very nice, especially after a few tweaks to it. I picked it up for about 110$:

This next one is the Silvertone SS11 package, a little more expensive (170$). I have not used this one. But it does have a few things the Behringer pack doesnt (Such as the Video) but you can check it out:

This is the Silvertone Rockit package, (200$), This one does have a Double Cutaway guitar, Much like the Gibson SG.:

This here is the Squier package: (200$) http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--SQU0280800506

The other packs on the SameDayMusic Site: http://samedaymusic.com/browse--Elec...ar-Packs--2646

Guitar: 1) Behringer Stratocaster; Webstrings Memphis Electric Xlight strings; Dunlop Picks

2) Ibanez TCY-10 Talman Series; Elixir Light strings.

Thank you so much. This weekend I plan to go to some guitar shops and compare prices. Now I know at least what I'm looking for!

Choosing what is the right guitar for you.

Probably the most important consideration, when choosing what type of guitar to learn on, is what type of music will be played on the instrument. If you're a fan of country music, and want to learn to play country guitar, starting on the acoustic guitar would be the most logical choice. The importance of the above philosophy can't be stressed enough. If you get stuck with the wrong type of guitar, you're going to have much less motivation to pick it up and play it regularly.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
