Bar Chords For Finger Picking
Hi All
I was wondering whether Bar chords, once you get really profiecient at them, are used for finger picking or they are mostly used for rhythm playing and open chords are more usually used for picking. At the moment I have found that Bar chords have probably taught me the most about the workings of the guitar so far, but as for using them for finger picking the sound is not so great but it's ok on rhythm playing. But this is probably because I'm in my early stages with them. :?:
Cheers Ken.
PS: rhythm amongst other words are probably spelt wrongly, I'm a hopless speller but I hope you get my drift. :?

Hi Ken. Your spelling is fine ... rhythm is right.
You can fingerpick your way through any chord shape, whether barre or open. It's more difficult with barre chords to get a nice ringing sound, but sometimes that's your only choice.

Well, some people use nothing but barre chords (yeh, its a French word for bar). Steven King, of National Fingerstyle Championship fame, uses almost nothing but. I have a video and book of his and he swears by barre chords. Your index finger becomes a moveable Capo (this must be Spanish word for bar) and you play simple chords over it. Yup, that's what he says.

In all this bar chord goodness, I'm a total bar chord reject. I rarely use bar chords.
