Picking..

I've noticed that my picking wrist and hand is a bit tense when I play... mostly this is not a problem, but at some rhythms it is. The problem is that I can't relieve the wrist without losing grip of my pick at higher speeds. I've tried out lots of ways of holding the pick, and also lots of different picks, but it just won't help...
If you can give me any advice on this, I'd be REALLY grateful, because this is hampering my playing painfully much.

Well, I'm not sure if this is going to be of any help but on this page here (and the additional links on the left) http://www.guitarprinciples.com/Gett...c_discomf.html there's some help on how to overcome being tense.

You could check it out, if you want!

Unfortunately it didn't help with the wrist thingy
Fortunately it helped me with some other stuff, like the way I sit/stand/move when I play, so thanks a lot anyways!

maybe you could try one of those ergonomic wrist splint things-the soft neoprene glove sort (leaving the fingers open).

Sounds like you may have a death grip on your pick. You may be losing control of how much your digging into the strings at high speed. Try to be aware of just hitting the strings with as little of the pick as possible to get a clean tone. I just strummed a chord as fast as I could and my hand tightened up just slightly. I was holding the pick quite loosely even after tightening my grip.
Go to a doctor and have your wrist checked out. You may have inflamed tendons or ligaments from gripping the pick too hard.
