Left Hander
Hi Kirk,
I'm a lefty and I brought my first guitar a couple of weeks ago and have been having trouble finding a site that displays left handed chords. I end up looking at right handed diagrams and trying to swap them round. Do you know of any sites that could be helpful?
Thanks in advance.

i had a college friend who i used to jam up with who is a lefty...bought a right handed acoustic guitar to start with....and turned it the other way round to make it left sided and put the strings tht way.....get tht?
and whever i used to play standing in front of him he could read the chords n pick them up so freaking well... ...try doin something like that....or maybe use a mirror....haha...maybe im using my technical brains just a bit more...lol ...but try tht once...n lemme know if it wrks n how it really does....

Coming from a fellow lefty...unless you are playing a guitar strung for a righty, southpaw chords are the exact same as normal chords. If you are playing upside down...I'd suggest getting a lefty nut installed and playing in standard tuning, it's much easier.

I am left handed too. For me all I had to do was figure out which was the high E and the low E and go from there. Once I knew that I was able to follow the chord diagrams.

Yea Khancock is doing the right thing...Dont really bother about this too much ..In fact its only a matter of getting used to it i feel, because after that it will come naturally. And secondly, Ive not quite seen chord diagrams written specially for left handed guitarists in songbooks that I've used....so i suggest getting used to the standard ones would find you no trouble at any point of time once your master picking it up...good luck !

The nut is the piece between the fretboard and headstock with the little grooves for each string to fit in it. The grooves are sized for the strings, so flipping a right-handed instrument to left-handed requires a new nut for the strings to fit properly.

I hate to disillusion you fine folks, but this thread was started by Hurricane in 2004 and he's never been back! I'm not sure if any of the recent posts are from a lefty looking for help, or a chat, but if you are, keep posting, but I fear Hurricane is long gone.........
