First Slide Lesson!!!

Yesterday was my first slide lesson!! I spent over 4 hours with world renoun pedal steel/lapsteel/dobro player Mark Van Allen basically discussing theory. He said that theory was the basis for understanding slide and all music (duh) but was expecially important because of all the open tunings and different things dealing with lap slide. My head was spinning after 4 hours, but he wrote everything down and I actually think I understood some of it!! I understand how all the music relates, chords are broken down, chords are made, major scales (WWHWWWH) and how everything is built around that (like how to make a major a minor or aug) and other stuff. I think it might be time to open up PLANETALK (Kirk told me to wait awhile back) So do you guys and gals think i might understand enough to put the DVD back in and bust out the book? Anyways, I can't wait to become proficient in slide (I already have blisters on my fingers from playin)! Post of my very novice lap slide in a little while!!!

I pray one day I can play....Good

  Slide lesson

Hey AT! Sounds like Ben is just about ready for a Ah Ha! Moment!

Ben, if you were starting to understand the stuff he was telling you, and you were getting the "WWHWWWH" then I think AT is right. Open up the book, drop the DVD in the player and let 'er rip. Once it clicks, you'll probably start "gettin' it" in leaps & bounds!

Keep the momentum going!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
