Self Teaching.(yes another question)

hey all,i see theres already a topic on this but my question is a little bit different.
well i've been playing guitar for about 2 n half years, anyway i've been in lessons for a year.in the mean time i was an idoit all i really got my teacher to teach me was some songs, rythm and lead.i missed out.now im here teachin myself but i gotta take it in steps, learn my
-chords
-scales
-music theory(Staffs)
-technique
-notes on the fretboard
im here wondering what should i start to learn first??? whats more important???
i will eventually learn it all but im taking steps.
i know some chords like A,Em,D,C,F,G,thats bout it.i know two scales C Major.
and Em Pentatonic. i know how to read Music Theory but still kinda sloppy on it,as for my technique well im good at bending, hammer ons/pull offs, etc. i need to get my theory better, scales, chords, notes.
as i said i will learn it all in time, juss whats more important to start on right now?? i really wants to get this stuff locked in my mind.im a pretty good guitarist,i juss want to be a smart one too -thanks for all your help!

Learn bar chords if you haven't already and read through the lessons here. The notes for the lessons are packed with practical music theory.

If you know the major scale and the minor pentatonic in one key, then you know them in all. It's just a matter of knowing what note you're starting on. The forms remain the same.

Hero,

You seem to be a good candidate for Planetalk. It is Kirk's book on guitar. It is totally different from any guitar training book you have ever seen, that i promise... It will allow you to improvise over melodies without effort and it will allow you to construct your own chords... It trully helped me very much...

Just to clarify- when you know the forms in one key, you know them in all the keys (you won't know all the scales). Later!

A scale for the key of G has a shape. The shape would stay the same if you were to move the scale to the key of A. The only thing that would change is the position on the fretboard. To move to A you would move your shape up two frets or a whole tone... Similar to the way you would slide form a G barre chord to a A barre chord...

Hope this helps...

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
