Your call- I think it just depends on how long your fingers (and the rest of your body) can take. Also, I guess it depends on what your goals are. For most people, the hour a day is sufficient- but if you really really want to be good, you'll be practicing a LOT more.
Personally, I'll usually get 10 minutes here, an hour there, 15 minutes another time, and on rare occasions I'll get to play a couple hours until my fingers are sore and raw (that's a good feeling).
Take it easy,
Chris

Do you get any break times in the truck? 'Cause if so maybe look at picking up a second hand beater guitar you can keep somewhere in the truck, then when you pull over for a break get some time in with the guitar.
May sound a bit silly but horses for courses.
The other option might be to restructure the day so you're practising before work rather than after.
I'll grant it's hard though. I know what you're going through 'cause I'm up at 0430 and don't get home 'til around 1730 or so. But once I start playing I seem to wake up a bit.

Tommy,
With just ten minutes a day you can really make a difference in how you play. It is just getting the practice in every day that is important. You fingers will become callused properly, won't hurt as much, you will also find that you retain what you learned the previous day better. And if you use your practice time to relax, then a ten minute strum on the guitar will surely put you right to sleep.
When life hands you nothing but lemons make lemonade......Then sqeeze the rind into their eyes, that should blind 'em for a bit!!!!!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
