The Guitar World magazine recently came out with a step by step guide to "Stairway To Heaven" and it was very well done. Very thorough!

I can do the intro and everything up to and including the first part of the solo, but have yet to conquer the rest.

I could play quite a bit of it back in the early 70's when it was fairly new and I was still young and had a good memory , but I haven't tried to play it in MANY years. I absolutely love that piece though - and I got a copy of that GW issue from February, so I may try to relearn... If the old brain and old fingers can still hack it!

It was one of the first songs I learned when I got a computer and could get on the tab sites-
Never bothered to learn the solos and the end part of the songs.

I'll never forget getting together with some of the guys and in between songs I started playing it- one of the other guys looks over with a gleam in his eye and says "Nice song...you write that?". Talk about feelin' a fool...

I think Smoke on the Water is next in the natural progression of learning how to play...!!!

STH is an excellent song to learn. Unfortunately it has been driven into the ground over the years to a point where it's almost unbearable to listen to. It is a classic piece of guitar work elegantly executed. The guitar work of that one song has been inspiration to countless budding guitarists.

I highly recommend taking time to learn it.

Just now watched Led Zep on DVD play it in '73 -- that song is a piece of music history.

Great song. As with the rest of you, I know bits and pieces of the song. Never have played the whole thing.
