Pain In The Shoulder !!! - Please Help !!!
Hi Family
I hope everything is well there, with everyone
From the past 2-3 Days, I'm experiencing sharp pain in my Right-Shoulder, when I practice for more than 20-30 Minutes continously. I'm afraid that I'm having a lot of tension in my Shoulder (and other parts too ) I have read that having tension in any part of the body, while playing the Guitar is very Bad.
I'm really afraid that my Posture may be wrong and I may have developed some Fatal-Bad-Habits in my Playing . I usually feel more of this pain when I'm finger-picking.
Kindly advice !
Thanks and Lots of Luv to everyone !!!!
Your Buddy

Hi Kush
Sorry to read that your having pains in your shoulder. Perhaps you need to consciously try and relax your body just prior to playing. While you are playing try to keep your arms relaxed and maybe take it slowly to begin with.
Failing that, maybe you need to rest up for a few days without any playing and after a time, then go back and see how your shoulder feels.
Sorry I'm not very helpful, but I hope it works out for you mate!

Well your in the right place to take up yoga to help you relax.
Try changing the angle of the guitar or the angle of your arm. Let your bicep rest on the top of the guitar and let your forarm and hand just danglle towards the floor totaly limp. Then swing the forarm and hand up to playing position. There shouldn't be any increase in tension on the shoulder

Hi Marty !!!
I hope everything is great there
Thankyou so much for caring and for the wonderful advice. I just wanted to ask one more thing which is bothering me for a long time now :
Usually when I sit to play, I tend to keep my Right-Leg raised (i dont use a foot-stool), from the heel to keep the Guitar a bit up. I dont know why I do this, but I'm very uncomfortable when not doing this. This also tenses up my Right-Foot and as a result my shoulder gets raised-up too !!! Is this the cause ?
Thanks and Regards
Kush

Get a foot stool or some wood or even books to get your foot to the right height. tensing your foot is a habit you need to break.

Kush, how about trying to play in a slightly different position, that works for me. Just imagine when you are famous and standing on stage, you'll be moving all over.

Hi Kush,
I would definitely recommend getting a footstool or something similar, even if it's just a couple of phonebooks.
I would also suggest examining the position of your head and neck; they can have a major impact on the distal joints: shoulder, arm etc.
Possibly switching between classical and casual position might help too.
Good luck and take it easy. And see a physio or similar if it continues.
