Sweep picking
Ah, the fundimentals of my favorite style...YES! But I can never get it right. What is the best arpeggio to sweep with? Or to practice sweeping with. I'm going to start with normal sweeping without the hammering and pulling off.

ah, this is probably one of the hardest techniques to get the hang off, i used this arpeggio to practice sweeping
--------------6--6---------------------
-----------7--------7------------------
--------6--------------6---------------
-----8--------------------8------------
--9--------------------------9---------
---------------------------------------
Try just practicing this just going up then once you get the hang of the pattern add it going down, also, start practicing it slowly, if you try to push it and play it fast you will only make it more difficult for yourself in the future.
PRACTICE WITH A METRONOME!
after you get that down try moving the pattern around the fret board, i like playing it like this,
--------------6--6---------------------
-----------7--------7------------------
--------6--------------6---------------
-----8--------------------8------------
--9--------------------------9---------
---------------------------------------
--------------4--4---------------------
-----------5--------5------------------
--------4--------------4---------------
-----6--------------------6------------
--7--------------------------7---------
---------------------------------------
--------------2--2---------------------
-----------3--------3------------------
--------2--------------2---------------
-----4--------------------4------------
--5--------------------------5---------
---------------------------------------
--------------1--1---------------------
-----------2--------2------------------
--------1--------------3---------------
-----3--------------------3------------
--4--------------------------4---------
---------------------------------------
repeat:
play that a few times starting off at a really slow tempo,Lets say 40 bpm, then after every time you play it correctly without error increase the speed by 1 click or 2 bpm, if theres an error slow it down 1 click until you can play it error free, this will seam like a boring task, but i guarantee that you will get amazing results from this.
i now use this arpeggio as a warm up before i play guitar, just starting with a simple arpeggio and moving it around the fretboard you can create some cool stuff.
hope this helps :]

whenever you want, you can add in Hammer ons and pull offs to the exercise i gave you, on the first exercise i gave you just add a 7,8, or 9 between the two 6s on the E string. you could try practicing with or without the hammer ons and pull offs,
personally I like just alternate picking the notes your supposed to hammer on/pull off because I find that when I hammer on/pull off in those notes i tend to rush them and I lose my tempo, and my right hand slows down. if I alternate pick them i can keep my tempo and i wont miss a beat. its all up to how you play and what feels right for you
