help please

might sound stupid,but on the guitar stave it shows the letter c for the c chord and the it shows guitar notes do iplay the c chord once and then the notes or play the chords over the notes.

If I understand your question, the chord above the music just tells you what chord you are playing when you play the notes as written. You don't have to do anything extra. In this case, you'll probably just be holding a C chord with your left hand, then picking certain strings... Do you have a specific example?

Thanks james,new to the guitar and have been looking at some sheet music from the group squeeze.It gives the chord and then notes and another chord,it might sound stupid but do play the chord then the notes then the chord.
