Bigsby Dive-bomb?

I was wondering if it was possible to do a "Dive Bomb" technique like some progressive rockers did with a bigsby whammy bar . . . if so, any tips or pointers on how to get a good sound??

Bigsbys are for more subtle bends. They provide a shimmer. Dive bombs, not so much,

Yeah, they're more for that rockabilly chord vibrato, which I dig. ie playing a chord and whammying the whole chord lightly 5 or 6 times.

However, I did read recently that it has been done before (the dive-bomb using a Bigsby). When I read again who did it and on what track, I'll post it. It was in an article that talked about tremolos I think, and it said the guy who designed it (called Bigsby) was a motorcycle mechanic. Makes sense.

I won't be trying the dive-bomb though. In fact I am scared to raise the bar to raise the pitch of the strings, even though you can do that if you want. I imagine you'd go out of tune pretty quickly if you depressed the bar very much.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
