One handed technique

I got a little motivated by the Thunderstruck thread and picked it out and got my speed up pretty good and it didn't sound to bad. Then I'm thinking I got the AC/DC Family Jewels DVD so I put it in. Of course there's ol' Angus standing there with his right hand raised over his head and he's playing the whole thing one handed. Holy crap! I sounded worse then the first day I picked up a guitar! LOL Any of you guys/gals try and play one handed?? I made several calls this morning to music teachers in the school system i work in that teach guitar on the side. Apparently i'm not only over my own head but their's also. If I could find someone that teaches that kind of technique I'd certainly pay for that lesson. Practice, practice, practice!

You mean, when just the fretting hand works? It's actually not that hard, all you do is hammerons and pullofs. It's especially easy on electrics with low action (distance fret-string), so basicly all you do is fret the strings a little harder to make them make a sound.

Good luck!

Yep. All it is is legato technique. Just a series of hammer-ons and pull-offs. It'll be tough to begin with, but it will come in time with practice.

That's the way I do it. I lose rhythem with my picking hand, and I've seen video's of Angus using just his fretting hand, so I practiced it. I just make sure that I get a good solid hammer-on and it sounds pretty good.

I use my right hand to cover the rest of the strings (thumb across the top 4 strings, and index finger muting the e string), makes it sound a lot cleaner.

Been practicing it for 2 days now and got my pod working overtime to bring up a bit more sustain and added a bit of flanger. way to slow at it still but it's getting better. Get to a certain speed and start hitting other strings (been using my right hand to mute the other 2 strings). Got a ways to go. To give my hand a rest i've been practicing my tapping technique which i also needed to keep up with. Couple of guys coming over shortly to jam so it should be an interesting night.
