how good were you on guitar after 3 years of playing?
cos i hit the 3 year mark last month, i dont think im as good as i should be. i have quite a good understanding of theory, my timing and rhythm sucks, my motor skills are too shabby, my ear has developed to the point where it can recognise dissonance

but how far along were you guys by your 3rd year of playing? i dont usually make it a habit of comparing my learning speed to others, but I just need something to gauge my own playing to see if im doing ok, or whether i should push myself a bit more cos this is one thing i really wanna be good at

I don't remember,it was so long ago,but I think I sucked for many years. I have dyslexia so it takes me forever to learn and remember stuff. As long as your enjoying your playing then the skills will come. You start beating yourself up and you run the risk of starting to avoid playing or quiting alltogether. Play the best you can at the level your at and strive to improve. It is the same for all of us no matter what level we play at.

Very true, allthumbs

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
