The line shows you which string (low string at the bottom of the diagram, high string at the top); the number shows you which fret to put your finger on. If there are more than two numbers on top of each other at the same space, they're played together (i.e. as a chord or double-stop)

say for example something like this
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------3b--
--(5)-5----5------5-------5p3--5p3--5-------

not too sure what the 5p3 or the 3b stand for

For the pull off, you play the string with your finger on the 5th fret,
at the same time you also have a finger on the 3rd fret,
while the string is ringing you take you fringer off the 5th fret keeping your finger on the 3rd fret and you should hear the note change tones. you only hit the string once for each "p"

My blues chops are very limited.

I like 'Hey Hey' by Big Bill Broonzy, (Eric Clapton covers it)

Maybe someone else who is further into blues will advise some.

Blues is a great genre and perfect for fingerpicking and lots of room for improvisation. I may not be the best blues player in the world, but for sure I'll play it a lot.

Clapton - for me - is totaly my style. Just do a google search for Clapton + tabs and I'm sure you will find plenty results on it! Some easy - mediocre songs to play: Key to the highway, nobody knows you, Layla, tears in heaven, the lonely stranger...

Also a fun thing is to play along with the CD... Perfect to practise your timing and listen how it's done by one of the best guitarplayers (imho)
