Muting on the guitar
I've been trying to play flyleaf's song IM SO SICK on guitar but I get stuck on the part where it say on the A string you play the 9th fret and D string it's on mute and G you play 11th ALL at the same time. Does anyone know how to mute on the guitar?
Thanks

Not familiar with the song, but you could use your index on the 9th fret A string, your ring finger on the 11th fret G string and pluck the two strings with your thumb and middle finger which means you don't have to mute anything at all. Or you could additionally rest your fretting hand's middle finger on the D string to stop it sounding at all.
Someone else may have more suggestions. May need to see the tab or chord diagram you're working with.
Cheers.

lay the inside of your index finger over the D string whilst playing the F# note on the A string. Then you can use a pick to strum both notes

As scotty says - that way as you strum over the 3 strings, the D string will fail to sound.

In this case you are playing the octave ie one F# and the next one up.Its a great sound- especially if you play a short melody in octaves.
This way of playing an octave is common and it is worth learning and applying to all the possible string sets.
Muting with the left hand can be acheived either by pressing gently with the tip of one finger dedicated to that string, by using the side of a finger playing the next string up or down, by using the side of the thumb to mute the 6th string, or by allowing the side of the base of the index finger to touch the 1st string as you wrap the L hand round the neck. All these ways are worth learning.
