e and b strings pinging

the rest of my string sound great. but the high e and B strings have always had a different...sounding vibration or something. it wasnt bad before, but not its standing out like a cat screeching in the background. i was wondering what could make these two strings give off a loud kinda pinging noise to it...

its really bad playing a g or d on capo 2...

love my guitar...

A sound file of the rogue tones would be great!

In the meantime, define pinging. Are the E & B strings ringing louder than what you believe to be normal? Are they sounding dead, as in no life or no sustain, no ring? Are they sounding off note, i.e., flat or sharp?

Are the strings new? Are the old strings?

How do they sound open and capo'd on the 5th and 7th frets?

??

Check the string height.

Could also be that the slots in the nut are a little too wide. Sometimes the string can vibrate between the nut and the tuning peg, which leaks back into the main string's vibrations and sets up a horrible sounding interference. This would only apply to open strings though, not fretted notes.

Had this prob on my Hagstrom acoustic. A few days in the repair shop sorted it. Answer, new bridge parts manufactured as they had become worn over thirty years.

Hello from Long Island,New York, USA. I have a Taylor 310 and have a problem with the A (5th)string. The note sounds 'dead' as when you have your thumb on the string. The other strings are 'alive'.
I replace the strings every 4 months. I am a beginner, still learning cords.

Could be the nut. Take it in and get it checked out.
