Hey all
i'm new to this forum, and guitar playing, and was just wondering: what would be a nice, easy song to start out with?

Depends on what you like. I got tired of beating myself up trying to stretch 5 frets and totally trashing some of the harder stuff I like. so i've been doing alot of pink floyd stuff lately. Wish you were here, money etc. Alot easier and I actually sound better doing it. My harder stuff will come in time, just not this time.

Got a few don't know if you'll like them
Mull of Kintyre - Wings
Are we the waiting - Green Day
Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
This Land is your Land - Woody Guthrie
Breakfast at Tiffanys - Deep blue something.
Some of the Crowded House songs are worth playing when you've got the hang of it a bit.
I've only been playing for a year, still very much a learner but these pointed me in the right direction, don't try anything too difficult at first unless your naturally gifted you'll get frustated.
My first song was horse with no name sets you on the right track.
Check out Kirks Lessons and all the other lessons and info on here its all geared up to help everybody at all levels. If you're struggling all the members are more than willing to help.
Cheers
Chris

Any possibility of posting the tab for "Money" on the site? Or is that taboo? Maybe just the verse or intro possibly.

Good riddance by green day is a good one. You can strum it, pick it or finger pick it.

Hmm...
Well, the first song I learnt how to play was "Piano Man", by Billy Joel. I don't know if the actual song has any guitar in it (Haven't heard it, to be honest), but my teacher taught me a really simple way of playing it, so you could try that.

Hi Krisling Pink Floyd have their own fansite with Tabs on try this
www.pinkfloydonline.com.
Try Is there anyone out there, if you want it's a good fingerpicking exercise.
Don't think members can post Tabs unless it's their own songs theres a thread on the site about tabs explains what's going on.
Cheers

ultimate guitar has a good national anthem that's pretty easy, it's the first thing i learned, if you want to play something that isn't chords, once you get that one down try the flinstones theme song, also on that website. You'll always get laughs out of people when you bust out the flintstones.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
Buy it now for only $10 |
