I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but now I'm acually worried.
About long term damage from having my 10lb axe hangin off me. I had X-rays taken yesterday and the doctors told me I might have some problems. Now I'm worried if it was a result of my playing or something else. Should I stick to the sit down and play or just give up playing? Or any solutions? I don't want long term damage.

Sit down and play or get a lighter axe.

I remember there was a jazz guy that played with the guitar(s) on a stand. He would move around to several during the song. Maybe something like that would help.

I might get an Ibanez S series just like my bandmates. Those things feel basically like an air guitar. The most you feel is the strings.

You may want to ask your doctor what he/she thinks about it. Especially if your not sure rather or not your problem is unrelated to your guitar.

I've had a Les Paul since '79 that is made of solid walnut (hence the name, ya see) that is one heavy sucker. I finally found this dual strap that I have had and used for over 20 years.
There may be more and different kinds out there, but here's one of them. This is what I'd go for if you like the axe you have now. Hey, even if you don't you might consider going this route.

Like a review on musicians friend, "How can you rock out when you look like you're working at Home Depot?". I am a metlahead, which means image is everything. Also, I can't do "around the worlds" with a brace thingy.

Is looking cool worth crippling yourself for the long-term? As cool as it it might look to hang your guitar somewhere around your ankles and to whip it around your head, it is obvious that even if it isn't the root cause of the problems you are having, they are certainly not helping to correct them.
As your quote in your signature says "just let your ego die". If you love playing guitar, you'll do it in a way that won't cause you problems that may lead to where you won't be able to down the road. If that means you hang your guitar in a reasonable position, then by all means do so. I would rather see someone play well with their guitar higher than someone playing like garbage but looking cool. Substance over image.
Also, I would consult with your doctor regarding developing a workout routine that would get you stronger, especially through the back and shoulders to help support the weight of your axe.

If image is really everything, then you'll just have to accept the price that comes with it. Whether it's worth it or not is entirely up to you.

Lets not forget Physical fitness. That makes a difference. Develop a routine for exercises... stretching and muscle building... the kind of aerobatics your alluding to will require you to be in top physical condition.
But seriously... we musicians REALLY injure our backs moving guitar amps and P.A. systems into the gigs... its not the weight of your guitar.

Remember, wherever you go... there you are.

all good suggestions here already. I will add that you are the band so that means you define what the image of cool is. This is not decided by MTV, other kids, other bands, crowds or anyone but the band members themselves. I have been in bands before where we purposely would dress different until the crowd would copy us and then we would totally change the style on them. Remember that people in large groups tend to act like cattle and as the band you define what is hip and cool and what is not. SO even if your doc says you need to wear an orthopedic guitar strap with special connecting headgear and a shoe with one sole bigger than the other you will still be the coolest metal dude ever when you step on stage.
If you choose to sit get an office type chair on wheels and make a gimmik of spinning around in it while you play or rolling all over the stage on it making it into extreme metal chair riding.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
