Chord Format Question
So, I'm okay with chord charts but I'm a little fuzzy on the text versions. The ones with 6-digits aren't a problem.
i.e.: E9=024100
What gets me is the 7-digit version.
i.e.: Fdim(III)=0003434
What is the significance of the 7th digit? How do I read this?

Wouldn't that be a seven string guitar?

It was in the midst of a bunch of 6-digit chords, so I don't think so. I've seen other 7-digits, too.

That is an Fdim7. You don't play the open strings since they are non chord tones as far as I know.

But why 7 digits? It doesn't make sense. And you're right AT - those strings can't be played open on Fdim 7. It's XX3434

Yep - methinks maybe an extra '0' got thrown in there by mistake.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
