Finding a guitar player

What is the best way to advertise in your local newspaper for a guitar player like yourself to play with--who is not so far above you that he/she becomes a teacher--or too far below you that you feel you aren't learning anything from the person? In other words, I would like to play with someone in my area where we could both learn from each other. How would one suggest the ad should be stated?

Couple of different ways. Post your area and what you'd like to do on a guitar forum like this one. There are plenty out there. Use Craig's List. Ask your local music store if you can post a flier near their door. If you're taking lessons, ask your teacher to match you up with another student who might also be looking.

6 string nailed it, that's a good advert, put it in the local free paper as well everyone gets one of them, you could also put one in the music press. On the other hand there might be someone on here that lives near you or you could see if musicians get together anywhere in your area, we have a local bar that has strumming sessions a lot of towns do, all the other suggestions are good on here, you should find it easy enough to find someone.

Good Luck

Chris

Check out your local music store too. They often have a 'bring your own pins' bulletin-board somewhere in the shop.

Hang out at the music store... it may take a while if your a busy person, but eventually you'll get the word out your looking and meet some folks.

Also check out some local live acts... musicians are always gathering there like some sort of herd animal.

Remember, wherever you go... there you are.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
