Wow I would have never thought the transition from Blues to Bluegrass could be so hard. Are there any Bluegrass pickers here that could give me a few helpful hints?
Whereabouts are you in Michigan? I'm in the Flint area and I know that there is a big group of bluegrass musicians that get together for jam sessions (or whatever a bluegrass player would call it ) once a month at a local school. I haven't gone yet, but I understand that there are several players that are learning the style by playing with and getting tips from the experienced players there. Might look for such a group in your area- maybe ask around at the local music store.
I'm just east of MIS. Not too far away from ya, lol. I've heard about the school you're talking about Paroh or something of the like. My future wife and her mom have a bluegrass band together called Marion Blue. My soon to be wife plays bass and her mom is the lead vocalist and guitarist. They play alot around Wayne and out at Flat Rock.
Yup- Paro elementary. It's in the school district I went to growing up. Haven't been there yet, but one of the guys that does sound at our church also does sound at the get-togethers.
