1st Lesson Tonight

Hi Everyone
I have taken the plunge and am having my first guitar lesson tonight - I can't wait. Just had to share that with others who understand and care, hehe.
I can't wait to share what I've learned and tell you how I'm going, but don't worry, I don't expect too much from my first lesson. Mind you - I do plan on walking in and telling my teacher that I'd like to be able to play "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi by the time I leave (the lesson is half hour!!).
Take Care and enjoy the guitar everyone!

That would be excellent if you can keep a straight face - worth it just to see the reaction.

All the very best with the lesson(s). It's a wonderful journey to be starting out on.

Cheers,

Chris

Good deal. I think about taking some too. I like my progress so far, but I can't help but wonder what a good lesson or 3 would do for me. Let us know how it goes. I may get more motivated in doing so by your lead.

Hi Chris
I did manage to keep a straight face, and Justin (my teacher) said that YES he could teach it to me, but did I want to learn to play ONE song, or did I want to learn to play the guitar!!! That was when I laughed and said "Ok, you win - teach me the guitar". He seems like a great teacher and that comment really broke the ice. I have 2 chords and a rhythm to learn this week - and for me that sounds quite difficult. I've just spent the last 2 hours taking off my acrylic nails!!!!! Now I'm about to practice my chords and rhythm. I've only had one lesson, but I'm enjoying it and looking forward to next week already.
Cheerio,

Hey There Scott
The lesson was great!!! I've never learned music at all, so things like beat, bars, notes etc were explained and it actually made it much easier when we got into the playing part - it made sense! I will be continuing the lessons for a while and see how I go. I'm quite pleased and the teacher was very good and enthusiastic.
Cheers,

Thanks Skinny Bloke - I'm sure I will. Justin said the key is to practice in short bursts (ie 15-20mins) so my fingers can gradually get used to it. Does it count if I only have a 5 min break inbetween?? Just kidding. I'm trying not to overdo it, so I don't get sick of it.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Hey happy plinker...
I just started taking some lessons again and the first thing the teacher says is: "Just assume I don't like any of the music you like, and I'll assume you don't like mine. I'm not here to teach you songs. I'm here to teach you how to play, so that you can go off and play whatever kind of music you like."
At first, it pissed me off, but now that I think about it, and after my second lesson, I'm starting to appreciate his comment.
Stick with it and have fun!

Hey there .#celtiC
Good to hear you are loving your lessons too. I think half an hour for me is good at the moment, but am thinking a bit further down the track to do two lessons per week - or maybe if my fingers can handle it, an hour lesson.
Keep up the good work!!

Hi Ya Steve

Thanks for the encouragement!! My fingers are a little sore this morning, but it's a good kind of sore. Like when you go to the gym and the next day it's painful, but you know it's for a good cause!!
I'm glad to have your company in my guitar journey - thanks for being here.
