I think there's another thread about this, billybob. Try using the search function to find it.

That book was very helpful for me. That book doesn't have any tablature or chords in it (that's because you don't need them yet - that is if you are a full-time newbie). That book gives you all the principles needed to learn to play the guitar. I think that you should buy that book and give it a go.

Yes just bought book this past x'mas, 2005

I bought this book at x-mas, 2005.

It has some pretty deep stuff in it as far as building a solid foundation to learning the guitar. I envision it will take 4 to 6 months just to master the exercises, maybe a beginner shouldn't use "master". it also has some examples backing up the statements of why you must master the different techniques in the book. I will say that every exercise and technique I've commited to learning from the book really helped so far.
I bought a guitar, my first, a couple days before the book arrived and now I try to follow the exercises in the book for about 15 minute a day. I'm stretching my fingers and trying to toughen my fingertips at the same time.
This book won't be for everyone but I would say if your serious about learning. You will get the book eventually. I chose to start my learning trying to avoid or make the least amount of technical flaws as possible rather than just learn songs.

FYI; I'm 44 yrs old and have wanted to learn for some time. I prefer to shorten the learning curve as much as possible by using a mentor and "Andres" felt like a good choice seeing how the book is all about getting a good foundation only. There is no music in the book, only foundation exercises and techniques and understanding the physical and mental parts to playing.
The guitar is a Breedlove AD200 and so far, less than a month, I love the sound and really like its understated beauty. The short list was between the Breedlove and a Seagull M6.
Best of luck,
Mike
