Like many of us, I started playing guitar at school but quickly discovered I don't have any Heaven-sent natural gift for actually creating music, much as I loved listening to it. Consequently, playing guitar took a reluctant but necessary second place to finding a career which would feed me. For years my guitar sat in a corner and would only get picked up on odd occasions when I found time. My playing was never good and worse, it was very repetitive. The same old cliché's over and over. Since going into 'semi retirement' a couple of years ago, I started to play a bit more and began searching the web for miracle methods to improve my playing. Well, it's the old good and bad news and I might as well state the bad first. There is no miracle method out there. The good news is that there is
Plane Talk and that is absolutely the next best thing!
Kirk's approach is so straightforward and down to earth it just made perfect sense from page one. I found it very easy to fall into the
PT way of playing guitar and I am enjoying playing my guitar so much more now because of it. Finally, I am starting to understand enough of the structure of music to break free of the tired old stuff I was playing and start to develop musical ideas of my own. I am really enjoying playing guitar again now. The forum membership that comes with PT is invaluable too. Not only as a source of information and help but inspiration and encouragement as well. I have a small fortune in expensive music books (and a few miracle methods) stacked in a corner of my study, gathering dust. Good place for them too, most of them would send me cross-eyed with theoretical gobbledygook by page two.
Wish I'd seen PT first and I would have saved enough by now to buy that new dream guitar.
Thanks Kirk.
