Hi,
First of all many thanks to Kirk for his awesome
Planetalk (PT) book and DVD.
I'm pretty new to guitar. I first picked it up two years ago this month. I've played Sax for years and feel really comfortable with knowing my way around it. I have really been struggling with getting a similar comfort on my guitar.
I've tried a
CAGED book and some Mel Bay stuff and a couple of other systems that promised the earth and failed to deliver. A lot of these seemed like rote learning and didn't "give me the keys" as it were.
My first read through
PT really blew me away. There was a lot of stuff I already knew but had never put together. I could see from that first reading that with work Kirk's PT would eventually open up the fretboard and make it as comfortable and familar as the worn keys on my sax. It has inspired me to practice regulary and spend more time when I do.
The Planetalk forum is a brilliant added bonus where Kirk stops by to discuss the material and a heap of other guys and girls share their PT experience and some of the methods they have used bed PT in themselves.
I can highly recommend PlaneTalk. I doubt that I will ever buy another method book again, I wont need to.
Thanks Kirk for reinspiring me and showing me such a simple way of looking at the guitar and music in general.
Regards
Stewart
