I have heard a lot about him, but never listened to his songs. By your opinion, what's his best song?

His signature tune is 'Always with you, always with me', but I feel his best is 'Flying in a Blue Dream'.
'Back to Shalla Bal' is also an awesome track!

Same here, but I got his 'Super Colossal' album for Christmas. I've only really had the chance to listen to the whole thing through twice, seems pretty decent. I might have to check out 'Crystal Planet' and 'Surfing With The Alien' next.

Satriani is one of my favourites. He competes with Ritchie Blackmore on the #1 spot of my list of favourites...
I like most of his material, but I must say that the song Surfing with the alien is the one that really made me start listening to him. I LOVE that song, lovely tempo, lovely melodies, wonderful playing. I can play parts of it, most except those really fast things.

Talking about Satch in terms of the BEST song from him is a hard thing to do. Thats because a ballad is something diferent than rock or technicall stuff.

Ballads you shouldnt miss: LOVE THING (The best Whawha tone EVER!), Always with...., Ten Words, You saved my life, Untill we say goodbye, Crying, Rubina & Rubina Blue Sky Hapyness.

SATRIANI TRADEMARK SIGNATURE SONGS: Flying in a Blue Dream, Summer Song, Surfing with the Alien, Crushing Days (maybe the best example of the technicall abilities of this incredible guitarist), Satch Boogie, Friends, Time Machine, Crystal Planet.

Great Experimental Songs:
ECHO, Raspberry Jam Delta V, TIME, Belly Dancer, Midnight, Engines of Creation, Searching, cool #9

You cant go wrong with this list. I dont think you couldnt love this incredible musician after a few listen, his music is highly adictive

Same here. One of our local radio stations used to always play it in the background while doing their surf report, so Iwas hearing the song before I ever knew who it was!

"Summer Song" is probably my favorite Satch tune....but he's done many great songs. If you want to hear a really strange electronica kind of thing from him, check out "Borg Sex" - it's different from a lot of his other stuff, but good in its own way.

Believe it or not "Always with you..Always with me" was our wedding song ....
this and Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover" are proof that shred guitar can be beautiful..

Sorry LeeB, but none of those songs are SHREAD music. Saying SHRED to Satch or mr Johnson is a blasfemy. They both are instrumental rock music performers not shredders.... Even if they actually can SHREAD they dont focus their music on that direction. They are incredible musicians who express their music on diferent ways but they are NOT shreders...
