Too right AT! That's why even when Eric Clapton reunited with Cream for a few concerts back in 2004-05, fans didn't see him with his familiar rainbow coloured Gibson SG, but Eric had his Fender Strat with him, and amazingly he still sounded the same albeit using his black strat with Cream as he did all those years ago. His tone was in his fingers and he still sounded as if he was playing an SG.
Sorry to go off topic a bit there AT, but it just reminded me of Eric Clapton.
