Word from Tommy Emmanuel ...
I mentioned that Tommy Emmanuel and I used to do shows together and he'd introduce me as "the best slide guitarist in the World". Now that I'm getting close to finishing my Slide DVD, I'm thinking about the promotion, so I asked him by email a couple of weeks ago if I could quote him on that. I just received this reply:
Hi Kirk,,,sorry it's taken so long,,,,too much travelling...of course you can quote me, it's the truth! be well brother! x TE cgp. That 'cpg' stands for 'Certified Guitar Player', an award that the late, great Chet Atkins bestowed upon him ... he's one of four to ever get it. Jerry Reed was another ... I forget who the other two are.
So, needless to say, I'm pleased about that. First PlaneTalk, now the slide DVD!

Agreed that is seriously cool.
Tommy Emmanuel rocks so hard on those Woodsongs hour shows.
I think as a tribute/thank you, you should do a lesson on his song Endless road Kirk. Oops I think I'm in the wrong section now.
If CGP means certified guitar player, what does the 'x' he's included in there for you mean??

That's a little kiss ... just a little peck on the cheek.
After further investigation, I found out there are just 3 cpg's out there: Tommy, Jerry Reed and John Knowles.

Hi Kirk,
Rob here from the MS Forum. How do I go about placing an advance order for the DVD?
You know that I'll keep pestering you about it....so I thought I'd just get on an order it and then have a pleasant surprise as and when it evenyually arrives.
Great News about TE. Seen him on several occasions and he still keeps blowing me away.
Take Care
Rob

Good on ya Kirk! You obviously deserve such praise from such a distinguished player.
I'll certainly be lining up to get my copy of your DVD when it comes out!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
Buy it now for only $10 |
