My boss actually was the one to turn me on to Roy Buchanan- unfortunately, he passed away last year. Shame that he never really got the recognition appropriate to his level of playing.

That is both an inspiration and a great piece of work. I'd never heard of him prior to that either, but after reading his biography on Wikipedia it's pretty hard to believe that he played in relative anonymity his whole career!
Thanks for the link, Krissovo - really enjoyed that!

Thanks for this Kris. Roy didn't play slide to my knowledge but he created that effect by pick angle and volume control. Lots of people do it now but he was the first I heard do it. Sadly Roy's life ended in tragic circumstances a few years ago. Hats off to youtube for giving his music to a new audience.
keep passing the open windows....

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
Buy it now for only $10 |
