My First Gig
Hey all
Played our first gig on Saturday, does anyone else have any disasterous stories of their first gig?
Lets just say that we setup and 2hrs before the event then we had to strip our gear out as there was not enough room for two bands to set up. In the end after 1 hour of negociations with the other band we agreed to share the PA system, amps and drum set. Next problem could not get the crunch out of the amplifiers we needed for 3 of the rock songs we were playing so a quick trip to go out and buy Boss distortion pedals. By then we could not do a sound check as people were ariving for the christmas party.
Anyway we kicked off at 10 after a 5 minute sound check and the set we had planned to last 30 minutes turned into an hour as we padded out the bluesy songs as everyone was loving us. After the show none of us bought a drink and all agree that we were the best band of the night, probably not musicly but we are entertaining.
As for me a few mess up's and at one point my picking hand was shaking so much I was hitting two strings at once for my blues solo but strangely it made a good sound and one that I am adding to my lick library.
So here are a few photo's of us:

Hey well done Kriss, but which one are you? Obviously the good-looking one, but there are so many to choose from. Go on, give us a clue

Like I said, the good-looking one
BTW did you need any protection for the fingers, or had callouses kicked in?

It was and he looked great, as for the rush WOW had a great laugh and the adrenalin was pumping hard!
Incidently we have just been booked to do a wedding early next year for €1500 to play two sets of 45 minutes. We have also been asked to play at another Siemens (my company) Christmas party for our sister site in Durham in the UK on the 15th as the boss of the UK was at our party and insists we play there as well. No money but a 5 star hotel plus expences in Newcastle has encouraged us to accept.

Great news. When your playing a tune with your band and it fall apart, tech problems etc., in the business it's called a train wreck. My friends who have been playing out for years still have the occasional train wreck. Congrats, you have had your first train wreck.

Glad it went well for you! Don't worry about the mess up's, it's all part and parcel of the experience.
You all look like your having a great time as well, so that's a bonus!
