Aussie Music :)
I saw so many Australian artists mentioned on these forums I thought to start an Aussie music thread
My favorite Australian artists are John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes and Diesel
Been a fan of John for a long time, have all his albums, each one is beautiful
Jimmy is hard to the bone hahaha, he has an amazing raw voice, he used to play in the band Cold Chisel, and they have some great songs!
Diesel aka Dielsel Boy is an amazing talent he is really a master of the guitar!!!
If you don’t know these guys you really should check them out

Try and check out the songs of Richard Clapton. He was the first artist I became involved with when I move here form Canada. He's sort of the Jackson Browne of Oz, a prolific writer of songs. I recorded and toured with him in the late 70's, which was a neat way to see most of this country in a hurry ... we toured everywhere for 3 or 4 years. One of his tunes, 'Capricorn Dancer', still gets played almost daily on the radio ... I often hear my slide guitar in the supermarket while shopping.

The "Man" in Australia is Tommy Emmanuel. If you want to experience guitar heaven, listen to his version of Classical Gas. I saw him play it live in front of Mason Williams and Mason just shook his head and bowed to Tommy. You can go to Woodsongs.com and find the list of video archives. Download the shows featuring Tommy, then write and thank me.

I may know Keith Urban, I'm not 100% positive on that one. I went to that link oscawild, but I couldnt find any Tommy Emmanuel videos. I also checked out his personal website, I see hes under the Favored Nations label, cool stuff.

On the Woodsongs website, click on archives, when the list comes up look for shows 349 and 245. I just checked them and they are active. He plays Classical Gas on both shows as well as other unbelievable songs. Let me know if you need anymore info.

WOAH!!! This guy is a fantastic player. All the percussive stuff he thorws into his songs, his excellent manipulation of dynamics, and kiler fills... I must kidnap him and make him teach me all he knows lol. Thanks for giving me a new player to be interested in.

Thanks Oscawild

What about 'Little River Band', 'Ice House', 'John Paul Young', part of 'Crowded House' (Neil Finn is a kiwi). Daddy Cool & Sherbit. Olivia Newtron Bomb also the Seekers. There are heaps of them out there.

I like some of the earlier Aussie bands like Little River Band, Skyhooks, Richard Clapton (Girls On The Avenue is my favourite), Axiom, Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons, Easybeats, Dragon, ACDC (still going strong of course), Russell Morris, Ariel (I think that's how it's spelt), Cold Chisel, Ted Mulry Gang, Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs, etc.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
