  Beatles- LOVE (The New Album)

Well, I stopped at the store today and picked up the new release from the Beatles. Had quite a bit of driving to do today and having the opportunity to listen to the album made time go very quickly indeed. Essentially, the album is a roughly 90 minute super mix of 26 Beatles songs with a bunch of others put together. George Martin and his son Giles teamed up with the producers of Cirque de Soleil to put this together. They went back and mixed and mastered all these tracks from the original studio tapes- the only new tracks on the entire album is a strings arrangement George Martin wrote for My Guitar Gently Weeps. There are many surprising moments on the album that brought a big smile to my face. There were several times while listening when I exclaimed out loud how cool something sounded. The only drawback to the CD is that, because it is like a stream of consciousness, it is something that you really want to listen to from start to finish rather than picking out a track here or there.

The bottom line is that if you are a Beatles fan, you MUST have this CD. It's like hearing the songs for the first time all over again.

By the way, I picked it up at Best Buy for $9.99.

Thanks for the recommendation Chris.

$9.99 for a new album. That's about a fiver. If I could buy new albums for five quid each then I wouldn't be able to move for the things. Maybe not such a bad thing after all.

LOL- I was pretty happy to see the price on it myself. My CD collection is pretty limited because the darned things were so expensive for so long- they were roughly double that price the last time for years and years.
