  I am in a band!

Oh no, get the ear plugs out I am in a band!

I do not want to bore you all but I am now in a band called the "The Abandoned Calls", we are a bluesy rock style group and play a mixture of covers and a couple of original songs. It started in a pub a couple of weeks ago when we were talking about the entertainment at our Christmas work party and so the idea was born to form a band made up of employees at the office and play a set at the christmas party.

The result is after a couple of hours from sending a email to the whole group we now have a 6 piece band with a couple of top quality musicians and a experienced sound engineer who used to do work with Thin Lizzy (small world). It is also 5 different nationalities and the bass player who was pro for 12 years and was Scandinavian Jazz player of the year for a few years running. I have been voted to play the lead guitar roles and so far I am just holding my head above water. Our first gig was to play the office party for 250 people but we since found two gigs to play before then in pubs that the sound engineer arranged.

So wish me luck, my learrning curve has trippled and I am finding it hard going but this is really pushing me and motivating me. We all get on great and have similar tastes in music. We have a rehersal tomorrow night so I will post some snippets of what we are playing tomorrow or wednesday.

Thanks guys and girls, I had a quick jam with the bass player tonight and it turns out he has just broken from a record deal with the Atlanta label playing with a great Irish talent called Emmett Tinley (well worth a visit to his myspace page to listen to his music very much acoustic bassed http://www.myspace.com/emmetttinley incidently this guy is playing bass on all the songs). Turns out he lost the fun element and changed his career to IT support, great news for me then and the rest of the lads.

You are all correct in saying that is a lot of fun and the pressure has forced me to tighten my playing so its all positive!

Congrats Krissovo!
When can I start booking the tickets to see "The Abandoned Calls?"

Anyway that's terrific news, and I say: "Good on ya!"
