Norah Jones in Concert
I've just been watching Norah Jones in concert 'at the Rhymin' on TV. Her backing was 3 (yes 3) acoustic fingersyle guitars, double bass (which was so battered it looked like it had spent the last 20 years on the road) plus drums and a female flute player who also did backing vocals. What a singer, and what a woman - and then on comes special guest....Dolly Parton. Dolly trips on over to Norah while the audience goes wild, gives Norah the biggest hug ever and declares in that southern drawl, "Isn't this the prettiest, loveliest, sweetest thing you ever saw!! Good old Dolly.
And then, 2 songs later, on come Gillian Welch and David Rawlings as well (2 more acoustics!) Wow, what a concert.
Dolly related gossip - frequently declares "It takes a lot of money to look this cheap" and, Dolly the Sheep was called 'Dolly' because they 'grew' her (the sheep) from breast tissue (everyone's a comedian)
One good thing about music is that when it hits you, you feel no pain - Bob Marley
