  Jazz guitar? classical????

hey guys, well i am considering majoring in music soon, but i hear id have to play some jazz or classical for an audition. but i realized i have no idea what jazz or classical guitar sounds like. so i was wondering if u can tell about some great jazz or classical guitarists? or albums so i can check it out. you would be helping me out a lot trust me. also if u have any advice about music majors or auditions, that would be really really great too. i feel like im in way over my head.....thx a lot!

Hi r1p32,

I just checked your profile and I don't mean to burst your bubble but it says you have only been playing the guitar for one month. Have you checked out any of the audition requirements at any of the schools you might be considering. All universities that I am aware of have an audition that you have to pass in order to ne accepted.

In the meantime go to youtube and do a search for Wes Montgomerie, Joe Pass and Jim Hall for a few jazz guitarists and search for John Williams, Segovia and Julian Bream for classical guitarists. There are a host of others that will probably be mentioned but that will get you started.

yea lol i guess i should update it then, cuz this december it i'll be playing for about a year now.

hey scotty, wat do u mean by background? like wat kind of stuff do i like? well i like classic rock and metal, also some blues and funk.

um nvm i decided against majoring in music but thx for the the replies i really appreciate them. and i was hoping to try some jazz and classical so thx a lot, u've opened my eyes up to this whole new world of guitar. now about blues......
