  Who sang..

Hi All.

Can someone tell me who sang "Cry Me A River" As its a song I'd like to learn to sing.... And one day in far distance land of the future when I'm grey and kicking on a bit I might have learned how to play it, in fact god would most likely take me a side and show me as most likely I'd be at it for years

Yep, it was on Mad Dogs & Poms, with Leon Russell (wonder if he was related to Doug?)

I think the version that is best known in the UK is by Crystal Gayle.

http://www.metrolyrics.com/lyrics/15...Cry_Me_a_River

But originally I believe it was a hit in about 1953 ( around then I wasn't born so I may have the date wrong ) for a young lady named Julie London : a quick search has revealled I was right here is a short cut for you

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cry_Me_...281953_song%29

But there is a list of people a mile long who have recorded it ...

Hope this has helped and not confused ..

Like Hilch said, lot's of people have recorded this great song. The great Ella Fitzgerald was one of the first I heard.

This is a standard and has been done by many. when i checked Rhapsody music service i found 364 major recordings.

I have put a link to a solo site that has both the fingerstyle tab and a recording of that tab by Yves Keroas. Click here and you will find it about halfway down the page. Check out the other arrangers at the top of the page for many other good arrangements. If you have trouble getting started with your own arrangements, this site is a great place to find others.

Thank you all for answering my question. Now if I can get DJM67 to learn the tab for it I'll sing it and put it up on the site so you all can here me murder a classic.......Lynn
