My dad's a folk singer, so I grew up with that stuff. I'm not a singer yet, but I guess you could write me down as a "maybe"

Here on the East Coast there is "The Philadelphia Folksong society", with loads of year round events and Festivals.
The Annual Philadelphia Folk Festival is a 3 day event each year
in the summer. Performers come in from all over; Kick-Butt Rock/Folk Fusion, Gypsy Jazz, Rootsy Americana back porch jam grass Folk Music, Folk with a touch of Jazz and Blues, Jackson Browne & David Lindley and Hot Tuna (Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady) were just a couple of the many, many, many artist that were there this summer. There are smaller festivals comming up for this fall and winter, and then again in the spring, and tons of happenings around the holidays.
I Love Folk music and the classic singer/songwriter of the 50's,
60's, 70's and the early 80's. I truly love all kinds of music so I'm not really limited to any one particular area. Although, I do more prefer the sound of the Acoustic Guitar.

I Dream to dance with my heart, and Sing with my fingers, as I pluck on the strings of my Guitar.

Hey c'mon, Bob Dylan,Donavon,Joannie Mitchell,Tom Paxton and not forgetting the great "Liindisfarn" they canni be sad wor Mickyboy.( Me mam's from the other side, the black and white side) Nothing wrong with folk at all bro. I'd be surprised if any discerning guitarist will find anything against it either. Oh and a big welcome to you.

Personally, I love folk music!

Folkies like: Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, some of Janis Ian's stuff, Joan Baez, Woody Guthrie, CSN, The Byrds, Nick Drake (depending on what mood I'm in), Simon & Garfunkel, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor.

Ah, too many to mention actually!

Don't forget the 'newer' greats like Bruce Cockburn, Chris Smither, Kelly Joe Phelps etc etc - all fantastic guitarists, great singers. fabulous tunes - and the words actually mean something
(now I'm 'for it' from some of our 'Rocker' brethren) Hey, it's all good - but I'm with you, Mickyboy

  James Taylor tabs

Go easy on me _ I'm a virginal poster and this is off the current thread topic.

Looked at the James Taylor Live at the Beacon Theatre DV , while admiring Kirk's excellent JT tabs (he really has got them right) when I noticed that the lead guitar (Bob Mann) had been effectively cut out of the final mix. This was at first annoying as the lead is great in the CD/Disc recorded versions of the songs. Does anyone know what the story is ? From a couple of side glances by JT it may be that he pulled the lead guitar from the mix.

Cheers

Errol

No idea Errol, but welcome anyway. I'm pretty sure someone in this forum will know something about it and make a post soon
