There are many useful "lesson-style" videos on YouTube, particularly with Brian Setzer, Mark Knopfler, Tommy Emmanuel, etc... Finding these is actually what prompted me to get playing again.

Isn't it just amazing how the internet has really opened up so many learning possibilities for ordinary players? Before then you had to try to figure stuff purely from the music or TAB or even by ear and for a lot of players, (like me) that was just mission impossible.

Well, I remember back in the "old days" of "the (modern) 'net" (~1993, when WWW was 'escaping' from CERN) that there was an early web site called "Rocket..." something and you could interactively collaborate; mainly with MIDI files etc... To instantly be able to make your changes to a piece and have someone on the other side of the world start working on your music... well, it was pretty phenomenal

Heck, look at us -- it's no different to drop a note to someone kms away as it is to send our latest musical efforts across the planet.

I still marvel at all this stuff after being in the game for nearly 30 years...

I was just saying to my wife the other day how cool it was to be in the GFB&B chat room and be "talking" with someone in England, South Africa, and Australia at the same time. Quite a community that has been built up here.

  Setzer!!!!`

Hey AT, Thanks Man!!

Ya know...I get busy and keep thinking about youtube.com and looking up some stuff on Setzer, then I get home & forget about it. Nice reminder!!

Some of the lessons stuff is from a very early lessons video (now DVD) he put out. You can tell it was a while ago since he looks so much younger! heh heh

But while I was there, I watched several of his more recent live shows with the orchestra as well as some REAL early stuff of Stray Cats.

Thanks again for the post & reminder!

Lee Rocker (bass player for the Cats) has a band that was featured a bit ago on Woodsongs. Some good rockabilly stuff worth checking out. Can find it in the archives at www.woodsongs.com
