Use Caution about fraud if you're on SoundClick!
Today I got this email through my SoundClick site:
Quote:
Hi,
I'm Anjali,i listened to your songs and they really sound great
and i will like to buy 50pcs of your Cd's and you will be shipping them
internationaly. i will be sending you a cashier check for the Cd's.so
please do get back at me with your full name and address. And keep the
Good job going.
Looking forth to your response
Regards
Anjali

This email has been sent through the SoundClick 'contact artist' service.
Always be careful when money is involved, please see our FAQ >
solution center, keyword 'fraud'.

Well, I NEVER give anyone I don't know information about me, so I wasn't going to answer this anyway, but I did check out the SoundClick FAQ about Fraud as suggested by the blurb SoundClick tacked on at the bottom of the email, and at this link:
FAQ - Fraud
I found this:
Quote:
» Scam Alert! Someone contacted me, wants to buy 50 CDs
Solution:
We heard of artists that have been contacted through the SoundClick 'contact artist' system with emails like this:
Hi, I'm willaims?Listened to your songs and they really sound great so i will like to order 50pcs of them and i will sending you a cashier check for the payment term. you will be shipping them internationaly ok. Regards
willaims
Of course the sender and actual text will vary. But the general idea is always to ship a larger quantity, such as 40 or 50 CDs. Payment will be by check.
Do NOT accept such an offer, it's most likely a scam! You can find more information about the so-called "Advance Fee Fraud" at Wikipedia or about "Cashier's Check Fraud" at American Banker Association.

So, never, ever, give info on yourself to a stranger and if something sounds too good to be true - it is.

The odds of me getting a email from them are kind of slim lol, i seem to be getting a lot more hits on the acidplanet site im 2,4 and 7 in the folk charts for some weird reason, they must be deaf lol or the opposition isnt as strong in there. Im sure youll get back up the blues charts once again Jim

From the music I heard on your page at Soundclick last night Joe, you well deserve being at the top! Those were sweet songs and really beautiful!
I don't know how the charts at Soundclick work, but it seems to be a combo of page visits, listens and downloads. I'm not sure that voting even counts much. We'll see what happens!
I'll look at your AcidPlanet page later today.
Keep up the good work!

Hi Jim, yes they do similair the songs in the charts are taken by plays, reviews etc. Its a very good site with some extremely talented musicians in there, i was surprised at the way they all rally around like in here to give some good advice via email as well, i would maybe consider signing up there to Jim, the more places your in the bigger audience for the music, many thnx again for your support all the best with the great music you do,
Joe

Hey Joe!
I like what I've seen of AcidPlanet so far - once I get time I'll definitely get a site there.
Good news is that my slide down the charts at SoundClick has stopped and I actually went up a few spots today on the charts! I may survive!
Thanks for your support!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
