STONES live or memorex?
Is it just me or does this look fake, the only cord I see is for Mick's mic. I'm pretty sure they didn't have wireless back then. I can't see any strings on the sitar. Is Keef wearing a German Army uniform? Isn't Charlie the coolest drummer, he usually doesn't use his upper arms, plays from the elbows down.

Har. You kind of sound like a little boy asking his Dad a zillion questions one after the other so I will answer in the same vein. Go ask your mother.
I think your right. Consider the amps and P.A. they would need to play that space and then consider that it was live and each act followed on the heels of the one before them. Not practical. No cords I could see. The sitar player was doing pretty well at air sitar if there were no strings on there. I vaguely remember one group showing complete disdain for this charade. Before they started they said hit the tape.Ha.

FAKE--almost guarenteed--common then as trying to mike live sounds for TV was virtually useless--I believe that I saw this performance live at the time--we always knew that acts on TV were canned most all the time, I think the observation that wireless PU's came later is correct, doubt they even had cordless lapel mikes then, let alone guitar to amp connection. Fake might be a bit of a strong word but, as USGold says, it was pretty common then for most groups to 'mime' to recordings of their own stuff.

ok-maybe fake was a bit too strong---i meant that the band (Stones) "faked" it for Ed Sullivan. It was great to see that old viddy though--brings back a lot of memories.Scott

frightening actually, remembering seeing most of those bands Stones, Beatles, Freddie and the Dreamers, Hermans Hermits, Dave Clark five and heaps of others perform those mimed shows wearing suits and they were such nice young boys, my mum said so , lol ..... man, I feel so old, think I'll wander down the garden and shoot myself.
They were all on a Brit. program called Ready, Steady, Go with Lulu .... Oh, Yeah. Lulu doing shout, I remember that!
What a relief, Im not dead yet after all ...

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
