I can't vouch one way, or the other....but, this may work for you:

http://www.napster.co.uk/

P.S. When Napster first started, it basically was an illegal download site. But it is now owned by a legitimate company.

Try this,
http://www.allofmp3.com/index.shtml?r=411164602

I think it's legal, but you will have to check that for yourself.

It's certainly cheap.

I have never seen this site before....but if you look in the upper right corner of the page, there is a link to English.

And, they are claiming they are legal....anyway.

Let me amend that....they claim to be legal in Russia.

In the US, www.walmart.com has individual songs for $0.88. They claim to have 1 million plus songs available for download. They are, however in wma format, as opposed to mp3.

I just downloaded 50 free songs from Emusic.com - their current promotion to get you to join.

I got 2 Jimi Hendrix albums, 1 BB King Album and 1 Johnny Shines-Robert Lockwood Album (which came to exactly 50 songs). You can do individual songs or whole albums and you get mp3 files that you can do what you want with and never expire or have any other restrictions on them.

Then the deal is to join for $9.99 a month for 40 songs a month (plus larger plans for more $) or you can join for a year for $119.88 (still 40 songs a month) and get a 256MB Mp3 player thrown in. I'm thinking of doing the 1 year deal because I don't have an mp3 player, and although 256MB is not that much storage - it's basically free as long as I want 40 songs a month - and they do seem to have a decent blues selection.

I am still not 100% sure I want to subscribe to EMusic.com so I did a google search and found an informative page with a lot of user comments on it:

About EMusic

I think I may sign up since I do like indie music and old stuff like '30's to '50's blues an folk as well as classical. And the fact that there is no DRM with EMusic and the .mp3s are 190MBps (I think) is good. You can also cancel at anytime (although if I get the 1 year package with free mp3 player I am in it for the year) - but I think I can easily find 40x12 songs I want to download and then also have an mp3 player as well.
