  Jim Stafford

I remember my dad watching Jim Stafford's show when I was a kid and remember him doing improv songs with the audience.I thought he was pretty funny and quick to just make up songs with the audience's suggestions.Never listened to him at all though as I got older.
I just happened to stumble upon this on you tube.Man, can he play.A great player and comedian at the same time.I had no idea.

juslikeplayin,

Thanks for brining those up. You know I totally forgot about him.
I also looked at the Smothers brothers stuff as well.

Wow! Nice find! I didn't realize that he was that good of a guitarist. The song that I always remembered him by was his take on Wildwood Flower that he turned into "Wildwood Weed". I always thought it was hilirarious! If you remember that one, you're showing your age!

If you guys watch his cow patty video,he does a funny trick with his guitar near the end.I believe that was on the Smothers Bros show as well,Eddie.
HB-I think I was only about 10 or so when his show was on and was not familiar with any of his songs.Just remember him being funny.

*raises hand*

Believe it or not, I have the little 45 rpm record of that song in my vinyl collection! I believe the 'B' side may be "My Girl Bill", if anybody remembers that one.....

He's got his own theater in Branson MO, just down the road a piece from here. Haven't been to it but it's supposedly a real good show.

Thanks Juslikeplayin & guys for the flashbacks, Since "I don't like spiders and snakes" and "I'm too drunk to fish", these were fun to watch while sitting here on this bag of seeds.

I remember seeing him in 1973 as the warmup for the Beach Boys (my first date!), and I definitely remember him playing a very impressive Classical Gas. A lot of funny stuff too, "I'm not Sharin' Sharon," "My Girl Bill" and on and on ,,,

I have a toy frog in my bedroom that sings a Jim Stafford song when you clap your hands infront of it or turn on the light (has a motion sensor). It sings its own version of the song "spiders and snakes". I got it as a gift from my uncle who REALLY loves Jim Stafford.

Yesterday was history, tommrow is a mystery, today is a gift. I'm moving on and starting over. There are things that have been done and past. You cannot change what's done but you can change what has not been. I will fall down and I'll pick myself back up again.
