Best Rock n' Roll Song Ever
To name the best rock and roll song ever written is almost impossible to do if someone ask you that question! I have struggled with the answer and have watched/ heard others opinions for years. You have to say something like "johnny B Goode" or "Layla" or "Stairway to Heavan" reflexly, but if you knew that it was your time and you could hear only one more rock and roll song while on earth, what would it be? Thats the best song rock song ever!
For me... Jumpin' Jack Flash by the Rolling Stones!!!!!!!!

I've got to agree with "Johnny B Goode" But I would "Not fade away" by the Buddy Holly and the Stones up there aswell. I reckon most of the rock n roll songs that only have a couple of chords are up there with the best.

Took a bit of thinking about but I like to think of a great Rockn'roll song as one that future generations can hear and think yeah that's cool and be able to play it I know some of the above can fall into that category especially Buddy Holly but I've gone for Come on Everybody by Eddie Cochran. Here's a clip of The Stray Cats doing it. Great Band

I listened to some stuff this morning Doug, I had a short list of Summertime Blues, Come on Everybody and Be Bop a Lula.
But I think Eddie Cochran inspired several generations of Bands across the decades, and Come on Everybody just got the Nod over Summertime Blues both brilliant songs.
I thought I'd put the Stray Cats on, Brian is a great guitarist

I can't think of *any* one song that I'd want to hear exclusively for the rest of my life. Stairway is definitely one of the most epic, but if I had to pick just one it would probably be "Moving In Stereo" by The Cars. I've just always dug that song for some reason (yes, even before Fast Times At Ridgemont High came out!)
I can definitely think of a few others that would be "desert island" songs - but maybe that would be another good thread to start!

Hi Stratrat, there used to a radio show on the BBC called "Desert island discs" (if it may be still running) I dont know if I could pick my top ten rock and roll songs, because there are so many. But if I was pushed in a corner, I would have to put "Freebird up there by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I would definatly put in a lot of the Rolling Stones stuff.

Well, what's my favourite today will probably change by middle of this week. I gotta say that at the moment the song in my head is Paint It Black. Just love that song, and I've never really been a diehard Stones fan.
Johhny B Goode is a classic though.
Just my 02. worth.
