  Knopfler, Mark

Now, there's a great guitarist, with great phrasing, just great. I was wondering how do you feel about him?

Yup!
Money for Nothing still has one of the best riffs ever.

He's cool, that money for nothing riff sticks in your head forever, Mark Knophler released a new Album in September called Kill to Get Crimson and has been hanging out with Emmylou Harris, recording and touring, he's a really good songwriter as well as a great guitarist, here's a bit of a Biography if you're interested Felixdcat, he was playing in bands quite a while before he got his big break.

I also enjoy Mark Knopfler's music, and his playing style is just interesting to watch.

I think he's a killer player. Very versatile and a lot of fun to listen to.

Yeah, he is great. I have always wanted to see him live but to my knowledge he hasn't come around here, at least as long as I can remember. One of my buddies dad said he came around here in the 80 but since then I must have missed it.

Mark Knopfler has certainly earned his place in the guitar greats ratings, and also as one of the great strat endorcers of all time. "Newcastle" north east England, has every right to be proud of him. Haway the lad.

He's one of the many talented players I really can't listen to. He's very gifted, and has a genuine passion for music, but it just sails by me. The first time I heard Sultans of Swing, I thought it was JJ Cale. Might as well go all the way and name Clapton, SRV and Santana also.
I hang my head and expect to be sent to Coventry, (that's a British idiom for being ostracized).
I'll get my coat.
Ian

Nah... I'm not into a lot of great players myself too. I just like some simple better than them. I appreciate Frusciante a lot, and he's just great for me.

Totally agree with you felixdcat.
Mark is a consummate professional, and an equally brilliant guitarist!

Nothing to be ashamed of. All of us have different tastes in music. It's enough to recognize the talent- don't necessarily have to like the songs... I'm one of those who recognize the talent and dedication of many of the shredders out there, but I'm not going to spend more than a minute or two listening to any of them.
