While I appreciate the dedication and skills involved to reach that level of playing, it just ain't my thing. He is very good at the style though.

+1 on everything Allthumbs said. It all just sounds like "wheedlywheedlywheedly" to me - no soul (just my personal opinion - not passing judgment). He's certainly very good at it, and I'm sure those who are into the shred stuff can truly appreciate his talent.

that was a refreshing change, that for me was a good example of what I would call melodic shredding. Rather than shred for shreddings sake this guy actually produces a great sound from his efforts

Excellent for the genre, but not my cup of tea.

Not my kinda thing, but he is def talented. I like very few shredders; he does carry nice melody in his shredding though.

He's certainly talented, I'd like to hear him play some other type of music! Wish my fingers were as well trained as his!

I am 62 an only wish I could get that kind of speed. It looked like he was playing a seven string which completely baffles me as to what I would do with a seventh string. He is very adept and proficient at his kind of music. He will problably do well in his music genre. I wish him all the best.

10 out of 10 for gurning every now and again!

Again not my taste but worth a watch/listen and I was not put off like i am to most shredders/metal players.

Axe is interesting, 7 string? Nice individual lump of wood, again not one I would have but had me looking twice!

I just went back through and watched some of his other videos... Did anyone else watch any of his chapman stick videos? Wow, what amazing tone that thing has got!

Ditto!! I have enough trouble trying to get 6 strings to do what I want!!!

And I find it sort of funny, but not surprising, that most of the replies all stated good skills, but not their cup of tea.

As to his skills, very obvious he has dedicated a lot of time into his playing. Quite good for that genre, I would say.

kajwhite,
I was so fascinated with the speed of his fretting fingers that I wasn't paying much attention to how it sounded, I imagine he would be good, or it wouldn't take him long to get good at whatever kind of music he played, he obviously is extremely talented.
