  Guitar Prices

I live in Germany and I'm totally p!ssed with Euro-robbery when it comes to guitar prices! I'm in the market to buy myself a Martin DM which costs $749-99, including the hard case, at MF in the States. Here in Europe of course, the same kit costs $944-06 without a case!

Bah humbug!!!

I know how you feel... South Africa rips us off regularly... Instrument prices are at least $200 more expensive ever here as well... THe more expensive you go the more the gap in prices become...

Us poor musicians... I'm going to find condolence with my guitar....

How does shipping factor in to buying guitars over there. Is shipping or customs and taxes the cause the high prices. My deals get killed all the time shipping from the states and I am only across the border by 3 hours.

It does quite possibly play a part. What baffles me is how is it that Tom Lee (Hong Kong) can sell USA built Martins at the same price as the US dealers? I'm not completely sure, but I'd guess that duties would be around 16% on a guitar.

Check ebay for deals sometimes the shipping is reasonable and sometimes it is a killer. Find out how much customs and taxes on second hand instruments factors in to see if is an option to buy that way. I have friends in the states who ship to me stuff companies don't sell outside the U.S.

I've burnt my fingers on three guitar deals on eBay mate. I'm now at the crossroads where I buy a guitar from abroad and bight the import duty or, I buy one locally and pay the premium price..! I'm desperate for a NEWBY Martin DXM/DM/D-1 or similar!!!
