Talking   Metallica Finally

We have been waiting for very many years for Metallica to do a tour of south Africa. I just bought four tickets to see Metallica amongst others. The Show is in March and i cant Wait...

I must say that their newer stuff (ST Anger) is not to my liking, but they are still a great band.

OTher bands that will be there include Seether (SA band that made it internationally), the Rasmus , Collective soul , The Finkelsteins (SA Band) etc. It is a 12hour music festival... and it includes most of my favourite bands.

I just cant believe how lucky I can be on Friday the 13th...

One of my favorite bands that I have not seen live either... I am jealous. have fun... and I think Collective Soul would be a great band to see as well.... 4 guitars playing at times in that band ... or maybe only 3 ?

Metallica has let alot of there fan's down. After I saw them in 92 for the Black album. Metallica was no more. Never bought another thing from them ever. Thou I still play there ealier songs ( the ones Dave Mustaine wrote ). I don't bother with anything else, thou I do like that I disappear song. Some day I might learn it. But it goes like this when you have more fun in the parking lot , than you do listen to a band something is wrong. They sucked it was a freak show. Metallica who?

Congrats WernHalen, have a great time... and if you have a spare ticket, you probably shouldn't bother offering it to Alfcarguy

I think I for to read this I guess it was the name Metallica, gave me tunnel vision and I didn't see anything else. But that is funny.

But I can rejoice with him cause I know how it is when you have a ticket to a band you like. Or Band you don't really know about but in the end it was the best concert you went to.

I've been to a few in my days but DIO in November,1985 had to been the best and life changing times of my life, seeing Vivian playing and saying thats what I want to do, it change my life. And on top of that I was deaf for like 3 days it was sooooooo loud.

But I rejoice with the guy cause at least one of the members is a fine bass player that use to play with Ozzy and probably is one of the best bassist around these day's.

I still thought they should have gotten the girl from White Zombie that use to play for them. I saw her and them in concert before they got big. And I didn't even know they were even playing at this place. And I surely didn't know about them. They Rocked

Wink   To Each His Own...

I agree with Alfcarguy about one thing... Everybody is allowed to have their own opinions and band they like...

I must also confess Alfcarguy, that I am not too impressed with their newest album, ST Anger. (I hope they havent got a new one after this... ) James Kirk and Lars are all brilliant musos. IMHO. The new bassist is not bad at all but I think of him as the one that changed their style for the worst... I might be wrong...)

By the way. Has anybody ever seen how much Lars Ulrich and Sir Roger Taylor looks alike? Roger looks like an older Lars. Their drumming styles are very similiar as well... Interresting.

I am just still happy that i am going to see them. Plus, the Rasmus, Seether, Collective soul are all some of my favourites as well. Metallica has just never toured SA where as Collective soul has and Seteher comes from SA originally (originally called Saron Gas)...

WernHalen this bass player didn't play a single note on St Anger. Its there producer BoB "make a band suck even more" Rock. He's the same guy that done the black album. They went from playing ...And justice for all. to The Black with new producer Bob Rock.

Robert how ever you say his last name, orginally came from Suicidal Tendicency. So maybe with one bad bass player they can hammer it down they can get back to some real heavy metal. Just pray maybe Robert will influence them enough to ROCK.

And you must not have seen the Metallica movie "Some kind of monster". It show's the making of St. Anger go get its on DVD it might be at your rent a movie place too.

Ok, That's news to me... I thought Robert Trujillo Played for them on ST Anger... I think i am sitting in the same boat as you sat a couple of years ago Alf... I got used to the way they sounded and I liked their sound, but with the changes that they made I dont particularly agree...

I agree that the black album was a move away from their original work annd that it did not sound like the stuff your older brother used to listen to, but musically there was nothing wrong with the album (otherwise they would not have sold misllions of copies ) I thought that Bob Rock captured their sound quite nicely and that the album was produced very professionally. Their earlier work, although brilliant to listen to was not produced at the same standard as the black album. IMHO.

But again to everyone his own...

I thought Metallica was in the studio making another album. I will look on the net and see if thats true, cause I thought I heard that they were doing a follow up to their St.Anger stuff.
It could have been Megadeth. But I will look around, cause you might get to hear some new stuff if there in the studio making some more music.

Where are they playing, Wern? I'll be in SA in March of course - if I can get tickets I may just go along.

Ian you should be able to get tickets through computicket. The tickets are not sold as Metallica tickets but as part of the Coca Cola Colab shows. They are doing shows in Centrurion, Capetown and Durban. The one in centruion is at the Supersport park on the 18th of March... (you might know where that is...)

The show was on Saturday and the bands were great... Although I am a metallica fan I must say, I think that Collective soul was tighter that metallica... The rasmus was a bit of a disapointment though... great music but no stage personality... Seether the original SA band was brilliant though... (ill post someting interresting to read about them later, I think...)

The South African Bands have nothing to be ashamed of guys...

I must warn anybody that wants to go and see a Coca Cola/Big concerts show ever not to do it... It was a disaster, all fluids were confiscated at the gate (after having stood in line for 3 hrs) then the lines just began 2 hrs to get cold drinks then they tell you the cold drinks are finnished... The beer as well... 3 stalls to cater for 45000 people with 2 people manning each stall... 1.5 hrs to the toilet... Ladies using the mens room out of despiration... etc. just makes you wonder... Coca Cola event but no Coca Cola... ( I think their dehydration/starvation experiment worked brilliantly)
